The 22nd Joe Pickett Novel by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author C.J. Box

In this special 300th episode, we visit with C.J. Box, the #1 New York Times Bestselling author of twenty-two novels in the Joe Pickett series, about his latest novel in the series, Shadows Reel.

A day before the three Pickett girls come home for Thanksgiving, Joe is called out for a moose poaching incident that turns out to be something much more sinister: a local fishing guide has been brutally tortured and murdered. At the same time, Marybeth opens an unmarked package at the library where she works and finds a photo album that belonged to an infamous Nazi official. Who left it there? And why?

She learns that during World War II, several Wyoming soldiers were in the group that fought to Hitler’s Eagles Nest retreat in the Alps—and one of them took the Fuhrer’s personal photo album. Did another take this one and keep it all these years? When a close neighbor is murdered, Joe and Marybeth face new questions: Who is after the book? And how will they solve its mystery before someone hurts them…or their girls?

Meanwhile, Nate Romanowski is on the hunt for the man who stole his falcons and attacked his wife. Using a network of fellow falconers, Nate tracks the man from one city to another. Even as he grasps the true threat his quarry presents, Nate swoops in for the kill—and a stunning final showdown.

The New York Times says: “Joe Pickett, the conscientious game warden in these rugged novels…shows the tough-and-tender qualities that make him such a great guy to have on your side.” And Publishers Weekly says: “Box is the king of contemporary crime fiction set in the West.”

PREVIOUS PRAISE FOR C.J. BOX

“Joe Pickett, the conscientious game warden is these rugged novels…shows the tough-and-tender qualities that make him such a great guy to have on your side.” —New York Times

“Box’s Joe Pickett series is the best franchise in print today, regardless of genre-period. Pickett, a Wyoming game warden, is a special character, and Box has developed him (and Joe’s family) in a way rarely seen in print or on the screen. Box continues to use his deep cast of characters masterfully, and if you read his last one, Wolf Pack, then you know changes are in store for Joe and the gang in 2020. Whatever you do, do not miss this book.”—The Real Book Spy

“Box has made a strong case to stand among the luminaries of modern crime fiction.”—CrimeReads “Thriller writing at its very best, as big and broad as the Wyoming landscape painted in shades mixed

perfectly between dark and light.”—Providence Journal
“Box is the king of contemporary crime fiction set in the West.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Box’s novels have been translated into 27 languages and regularly appear on best-seller lists, a testament to the strength of his writing and the popularity of the melding of western and crime genres.”—Booklist
