Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why is your podcast called Charlotte Readers Podcast?

A. The podcast was originally produced and recorded in a studio in Charlotte, North Carolina and featured primarily Charlotte-area authors, but as the podcast grew, the podcast shifted to virtual recordings and the first 300 episodes feature authors in thirty states and four countries. The first 300 episodes are for readers and writers everywhere who love to hear conversations with local and regional authors and due to the magic of remote podcasting, national and international authors, too.

Q. What is Charlotte Readers Podcast: Beyond 300?

A. This is what we call the new format for our episodes beyond the 300th episode. Rather than producing episodes that feature one host doing a single interview of one author, the Beyond 300 episodes will feature three co-hosts, more authors featured in shorter segments in each episode, and much more. In addition to the author features, the co-hosts plan to offer reading recommendations, discuss writing and book marketing issues, and engage with listeners from the reading and writing community.

Q. Why do authors read their work on the show?

A. Because this is the show where authors give voice to their written words.

Q. How can authors get featured on the podcast?

A. One way for authors to be featured on the podcast is to submit a blog post that is accepted for publication on the podcast website. Click HERE to see the submission requirements. If the blog is accepted, we will post it to the website and mention the blog and the author in our newsletter and in one of the podcast episodes. Another way to be featured on the podcast is for the author to be invited based on a referral by a reader, writer, or listener, or for the author or their representative to submit information about themselves and their book and be invited to appear.

Q. How can listeners’ voices be heard on the show?

A. In Beyond 300, we want to hear our listeners’ voices too. You can leave us a voice message on our SpeakPipe page HERE. Please keep your message to no more than 90 seconds–the tighter the better. Tell us your name, and either: 1. Tell us what you liked about a particular show or the podcast in general; or 2 Make a book recommendation starting with the title and author and share what you liked about the book; or 3. Leave us a writing or book marketing tip and when you do, tell us the kind of writing you do; or 4 Ask us a question you’d like the hosts to address on the podcast. We’d love to hear from you.

Q. Can listeners engage with the show in other ways?

A. Absolutely. You can provide Listener Feedback that might get a mention on the show. Give us feedback. Suggest an author. Make a book recommendation. Share your writing and marketing tips. Or simply ask questions of the hosts.

Q. Why should I listen?

A. Because the co-hosts plan to have fun while encouraging authors to read and talk about their award-winning, published works; the kind of books, stories and poems that touch the emotions, followed by the kinds of questions and answers that offer depth and insight into the readings.

Q. Are you going to spam me if I sign up for your newsletter?

A. No. That takes too much time and will interfere with taping shows with interesting authors.

Q. If I like the podcast, can I support the podcast and get additional exclusive content in return?

A. Absolutely! You can become a monthly supporter (one of our Patreon members) for as little as $5 per month. You can find out more HERE. We appreciate your support.

Q. Why should I leave a written review and how do I do it?

A. When you leave a short written review, you help us reach more listeners and for that, we and our authors are very grateful. You can leave a review on Apple Podcasts and if you prefer the ease of doing it on your iPhone, just go into your podcast app, locate Charlotte Readers Podcast, open our podcast and scroll down below our episodes to just below Ratings and Reviews where you will find a “Write a Review” link. Click there and you can rate and write just a few sentences to review the show which will go a long way.

Q. One final question. What’s the catch? You’re not just going to give us this stuff for free, are you?

A. There is no catch. You can listen for free on this website; on Apple Podcasts – as well as all major podcast platforms, and wherever you like to get your podcasts.
