Chuck Edwards practiced cardiovascular surgery for 29 years until a tremor forced him to make a transition.  At age 65, he was accepted at Johns Hopkins to pursue further training in dementia. This prepared him in 2013 to open a center in Charlotte caring for patients and families struggling with memory loss. A seminal influence in his life was both parents dying of Alzheimer’s disease.

He continues to help families and patients navigate the pitfalls of these diseases. Dr. Edwards has three children and eight grandchildren. The book Much Abides is the net result of a lifetime of observing human behavior and trying to understand it.
