January Lineup
Happy New Year!
We welcome in the New Year with an episode that features a collection of marketing focused authors, followed by three more January episodes with exciting author features and interesting blog posts. Each episode also features a thought-provoking Charlotte Lit 2 minute tip, elevator pitches, and book recommendations.
Episode 321 – January 10
In this episode, we hear from authors Charlotte Dune, Lainey Cameron, Jean Grant, Paulette Stout, Kelly Finley, Sharon Duckett, and Rue Sparks on building author platforms, effective marketing techniques, how to get honest book reviews, and how to sell more books. These women are part of a Writer Support Group that discusses how to navigate the writing life and publishing industry.
Episode 322 – January 17
In this episode, we feature author Mimi Herman and her novel, The Kudzu Queen, what North Carolina Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green calls “absorbing, nuanced, and as layered as the characters who inhabit it.” New York Times Novelist Lee Smith says the novel has “the most appealing young heroine since Scout…this book demands to be a movie!” We also feature Mary Salisbury, author of Side Effects of Wanting, with her blog post: How the Love of Reading Can Lead to Publication.
Episode 323 – January 24
In this episode, we feature Robert Bathurst, known as Sir Anthony on Downtown Abbey, about his audiobook narration of Louise Penny’s latest Inspector Gmache novel, A World of Curiosities, which Publishers Weekly calls a “virtuoso 18th novel [that] blends nuanced characterization with nail-biting suspense.” We also feature Jennie Liu, author of Enly and the Buskin Blues (releasing February 2023), with her blog post, The Literary Ecosystem at Work for An Introverted Book Marketer.
Episode 324 – January 31
In this episode, we feature author Paul Lamb and his novel, One-Match Fire, what one reviewer calls “an elemental story of the love that transpires between fathers and sons,” and what another reviewer calls “a beautiful novel that will make you ask why we are here, and demand answers.” We also feature author Sonya Ramsey, and her book “Bertha Maxwell-Roddey, A Modern-Day Race Woman and the Power of Black Leadership,” a book which examines achievements and leadership in a desegregated South and offers new insights into desegregation, urban renewal, and the rise of the Black middle class. We also feature D.S. Davis, author of IPA, with his blog post, Hindsight Luxuries of Self-Publishing.
